A Dogtrot for a Community Garden

Two sheds joined by an open breezeway on the dogtrot plan — tool storage and a covered place to gather, built for a community garden.

All Saints' Episcopal Church in Russellville was putting in the Edible Churchyard Garden — plots any resident can use to grow what they like. They needed somewhere to keep the mowing equipment and hand tools, and a covered place for people to gather.

A dogtrot does both at once: two enclosed sheds with an open breezeway between them. Framing, siding, roofing, doors, trim, ramps and paint were all ours.

It was one of the first larger complete jobs we took on. It is still in use.

The Edible Churchyard Garden is run by All Saints' Episcopal Church.
